MY THOUGHTS FROM SOUTHWEST KANSAS AUCTION TODAY (DEC. 17th)
800+ miles. The distance from Rochester, MN down to Garden City, Kansas. I was down in the southwest corner of Kansas today to cover and shoot video of a very large farm machinery auction by Del Peterson & Associates. This wasn't your normal farm auction. A very large custom hay operator who was reorganizing, getting out of the hay biz I heard. Tons of late-model equipment sold today. Here are a few quick highlights:
2009 JD 9770 STS combine with 492 sep. hours: $207,500
(3) other 2009 JD 9770 STS combines: $207,500; $205K; $204K
2008 JD 9770 STS combine with 537 engine hours: $187,500
2006 JD 635F flex head: $21,500
2009 JD 8530 MFWD tractor with 500 hours, warranty: $185K
2008 JD 8530 MFWD tractor with 1782 hours: $170K
2005 JD 9520 4WD tractor with 2500 hours: $145K
2006 JD 8330 MFWD tractor with 1415 hours: $130K
2009 Stinger 6500 square bale loader with 425 hours: $152,500
2008 MF 9635 swather with 750 hours: $53,000
(2) 2009 MF 2190 big square balers: $87,500; $92,000Lots more really good sale price data from this sale. I'll be punching the data into the web site tonight. Should have video highlights of this auction posted here on the web site soon too, so check back for those.
* YIKES! WHAT A SALE IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI YESTERDAY (DEC. 16th) *
My buddies Dan and Jim Sullivan had another gangbuster farm auction yesterday in northeast Missouri. Check out a few of these eye opening sale prices:
1970 Chevy C60 tandem grain truck, 1 owner: $11,500
1984 MF 850 combine, 4WD, with 2567 hours: $22,000
1979 MF 550 combine with 3037 hours: $9,000
MF 1163 6-row corn head: $4,250
1982 White 2-155 tractor, Series 3, 3122 hours: $22,250
1976 White 2-150 tractor with 2246 hours: $14,750
Oliver Super 88 tractor with 7198 hours, 1 owner: $6,000
Krause 4200HR field cultivator, 26.5': $10,250
In case you were wondering....those 2 sale prices on the MF combines, those were record setters. I haven't seen a MF 850 sell that high for 11 years. And the MF 550? I just plain haven't seen one sold that high at all....not in last 13+ years worth of data we've got in our web site. And those combines sold WITHOUT HEADS!! Fun to sell (and buy) that really, really good clean well cared used equipment.
** MACHINERY SHOW BEATS NBC'S "THE OFFICE" ** No, not in the Niesel Ratings. But according to a nice young High School kid from Colorado I met today at the southwest Kansas auction......"I watch your show every Thursday night on RFD-TV." Cool! I have a harder time convincing my own 2 teenage daughters to watch old dad on the "Machinery Show"....they see enough of me around home I guess :-) On upcoming episodes be sure to watch for video highlights from the big "Auction of the Decade" we shot out in South Dakota back on Dec. 1st......BIGGEST farm auction crowd I've seen in my 20 years.
