2007 JD DB88 48R-22 planter sold for $140,000 on recent west-central Minnesota dealer auction - 1/2/2010

REPORT ON WEST-CENTRAL MINNESOTA DEALER AUCTION
I received a huge packet of sale price data from the big December 17th dealer/consignor auction by Zielsdorf Auction & Real Estate in Benson, Minnesota. I spent a good chunk of time today entering a lot of this sale price data into our "auction results" database. What caught my eye? Well, that 2007 JD DB88 48R-22 planter (see headline above) did for sure. $140,000. This same west-central Minnesota sale also had a SLUG of late-model Deere combines up for sale. Sale prices looked strong to me, prices like $227,000 for the 2009 JD 9870 STS with 631 engine hours and $232,000 for the 2009 JD 9870 STS with 477 engine hours. This auction was one of (3) in early to mid December I saw with well over $5,000,000 worth of used equipment sold. You know the used market is still very strong when $5 million dollar sales are happening right & left.

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING?? WHAT'S IT WORTH??
One of my buddies emailed me a picture of a unique piece of equipment up for sale on a January 12, 2010 auction in west-central Illinois. Copy this link into your browser's address bar and take a look:

Well, the sale bill says this thing is a "Lewis #3 Poultry Housekeeper". Any guesses on what it will sell for?? I'll check with my guys Dan and Jim Sullivan at Sullivan Auctioneers to find out what it sells for and report back here.........I DON'T THINK I HAVE A MACHINERY CATEGORY FOR "POULTRY HOUSECLEANERS".......think its headed for our "MISCELLANEOUS" category :-)

* UPDATE ON 1969 JD 4000 TRACTOR WITH 1ST SERIAL # *
Ok, back about 5-6 weeks ago I wrote one of my weekly online columns for "Agriculture.com" on a unique tractor up for sale on Ebay. It was a 1969 JD 4000 tractor with the very 1st Serial No., up for sale by a farmer in Kentucky. The Ebay bidding got up to $48,500, but the tractor was "NO SALED". There was a reserve price listed of $99,900........Optimistic seller. I recently heard through the grapevine from a contact in Kentucky that this JD 4000 with the 1st serial # wound up selling for $65,000. It was sold privately to a buyer from Iowa.
