(47) RECORD HIGH SALE PRICES ON GRAIN CARTS IN LAST 2 YEARS
I knew GRAIN CARTS have been "hot" items on the used equipment market for a while now, but......I didn't realize quite the extent of this trend until late last night. I'm kind of a night owl and last night after getting back from Orlando, FL where I was attending the 2010 Ag Connect Expo, I was playing around with data in our web site. I was specifically looking at GRAIN CART sale price data. What I found was quite amazing. I zipped through all the most common MAKES & MODELS of GRAIN CARTS and started jotting down notes........I didn't stop until I had turned up a whopping (47) new record HIGH auction sale prices on various Makes/Models of GRAIN CARTS since the start of 2008. 47 new record prices! I'm not just talking real late-model GRAIN CARTS here. Yes, there were certainly new record HIGH prices on those, but also older very common models, lots of record prices on those too. Such as these examples:

  • Brent 420, sold 11/08 on west-central North Dakota sale: $9,500
  • Brent 770, 1990 model, sold 7/08 on west-central Saskatchwan sale: $20,000
  • EZ Trail 510, sold 1/10 on east-central Illinois sale: $8,400
  • J&M 525, 1999 model, sold 8/08 on north-central Iowa sale: $11,900
  • J&M 750, sold 1/09 on south-central Nebraska sale: $19,100
  • Kinze 400, sold 1/09 on east-central Illinois sale: $8,400
  • Parker 4500, sold 9/08 on southeast Iowa sale: $5,100

So if you haven't really thought too much about that nice old grain cart sitting out in your shed....guess what? It's worth more than you thought.
