2007 JD 9760 STS combine with 1851 engine hours (good) sold for $133,000 on northeast North Carolina auction Thursday - 2/13/2010

LAST 3 DAYS WE'VE GOT PRICES FROM NC, VA, NM, IA, NE, KS & MO
My favorite time of year just setting in.....busy machinery auction time of year! Great sale price data pouring in. Just this morning (Feb. 13th) I got reports from auctions this week in southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Great detailed reports......"1999 JD 726 mulch finisher, 30', blades worn out, shanks bent, lot of wear, double rolling basket: $28,000. That JD 726 mulch finisher sold Thursday (Feb. 11th) on an auction in northeast North Carolina. Here are a few more prices from that auction:

  • 1995 JD 8400 MFWD tractor with 5239 hours, good: $69,000
  • 2004 JD 8320 MFWD tractor with 3777 hours, good: $95,000
  • 2004 JD 8120 MFWD tractor with 3471 hours, good: $85,000
  • 1996 Caterpillar 45 tractor with 10,742 hours, new 30" tracks, fair: $31,000
  • CaseIH 5240 MFWD tractor with 4700 hours, high clearance, good: $27,250
  • 2007 JD 9760 STS combine with 1851 engine hours: $133,000
  • 2007 JD 9760 STS combine with 2018 engine hours: $133,000
  • 1994 JD 844 8-row, 40-inch corn head, good: $12,000
  • CaseIH SDX30 40-foot air dril with #1100 see cart, good: $30,000
  • EZ Trail 710 grain cart, 1 year old, excellent: $16,000
  • JD 310C backhoe, 4WD, fair: $7,400
  • JD 980 field cultivator, 24', good: $13,000

I really think its important to look at a complete sale price report from any auction....gives you a better feel for the big picture. Did everything sell strong? Some stuff soft? Was it all "1 owner" equipment? You get the idea. Don't forget that in our "auction results" database you can do this, see everything that sold on a given auction. Just click on any sale price displayed and a pop-up window appears showing all the other items sold on that auction.....pretty cool!

PETE ADDS BUBBLE COMMENTS TO VIDEO FROM FEB. 11TH KANSAS AUCTION
Around lunch time today (Feb. 13th) I went in and finished up adding my "bubble comments" to the new video we posted yesterday from Stock Auction Company's fantastic farm auction Thursday, Feb. 11th in south-central Kansas. I had a ball at this sale. Talked to a ton of great folks.....Cody, Harlan, Dave, Terry and my old friend Larry R. Thanks for the conversations guys! Check out the video and pay special attention to these "bubble comments" I've dropped in along the way. I really have fun with these. An opportunity for me to dispense some hopefully useful facts, figures & insights. Reminds me of the old VH1 cable TV show "Pop UP Video" where VH1 would drop in bubble facts about old music videos from the early to mid 1980's. So there's Madonna or Hall & Oates looking dorky in their gawdy '80's garb and VH1 dropping in quirky facts related to those artists and/or that time period. Once we post new videos I just sit down and go through our auction sale price data. We've got 20 years of historical sale price data on hand....so fun to go back and see what a similar piece of equipment sold for 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 years ago & compare to the item that are watching sell on the video. I did this with the JD 1590 20-foot no till drill in the new video from Kansas. I went back and found the exact same 1590 sold in west-central Illinois a couple years ago.....how do the sale prices compare?? Fun stuff. One cool fact I found in this new video from the Kansas auction Thursday....the 1997 JD 9600 combine with 2809 engine hours sold for $79,000....that's the 3rd HIGHEST auction sale price I've run across on a JD 9600 combine in 9 years!

NEW VIDEO FROM FRIDAY AUCTION IN NORTHWEST MISSOURI COMING
After shooting video of Stock Auction Company's sale in south-central Kansas Thursday, I made my way up to Trimble, MO to shoot video of a small farm retirement auction by auctioneer Eddie Pickett. Couple low hour tractors on this sale, including a 2003 model CaseIH MXM 130 MFWD with only 540 hours. I'll be posting this video this weekend, so check back and click on the "Machinery Pete Video" link on our homepage. I got a quick interview with Eddie before the sale started......as I finished up my interview Eddie introduced me to a local farmer who was there at the sale with his son Lane....I'm guessing Lane was may 11 or 12 years old. As he was munching on a hot dog from the auction food truck I asked Lane what tractors he has back home on their farm. "We have a International 784, a 706 and a 1256." So Lane, which is your favorite tractor I asked. "The 1256." All these machinery auctions I've been hopping around the country covering.....one thing that ALWAYS BRINGS A SMILE to my face and always will is to see fathers at the sales with their young sons (or daughters). Or to see young kids going up to talk to Grandpa at the auction. Spending time with your kids.....NOTHING more important if you ask me. When I see youngsters at the auctions with mom & dad it takes me back to when Machinery Pete was a little bugger growing up in west-central Minnesota (Benson). My dad was an implement dealer from the early 1960's until recently stepping away from the day to day activities of the business. When we were little we used to go with dad to the store after dinner. He'd be catching up on office paperwork...and we'd be running around the parts bins & punching all the light up buttons on the store's phones. Or popping a dime (imagine that) into the glass bottle pop machine. We'd grab a Pepsi or an Orange Crush and go sit in the big tractor or combine cabs out on the lot. Good memories. Would have been easy (much easier I'm sure) with as busy as dad was to just leave us at home. Nope, we tagged along. Thanks dad. And to all you dads (& moms) out there, keep bringing your kids with you. Let them be a part of what you do & who you are. Blink your eyes and they'll be off to college like our oldest daughter is now. Shoot, seems like yesterday to me our 2 girls would tag along with me every day to get my mail and hit the bank. I'd be filling out a deposit slip and they're little hands could barely reach the counter........now they're young ladies, 18 & 16.
