This sale had 2 skid steers, about as nice as you'll ever see, one a 2007 Bobcat S185 and the other a 2008 NH L190. Check back for these highlights....click on the "Machinery Pete Video" link on our homepage. MACHINERY PETE OFF TO MICHIGAN TO SPEAK AT IHC COLLECTORS CONVENTION I'm hitting the road again today (Friday, Feb. 26th), making my way up to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I've been invited to give the dinner speech at the local International Harvesters collector club meeting. Should be fun. We'll talk trends in the antique tractor market. One issue I'll be touching on is a coming trend I see......how now more collector $$'s chasing very nice condition tractor models from the mid 1960's into the early 1970's. The emotional connection of acquiring that 1st tractor you drove, or the one you sat with dad and helped drive back when you were a kid. I'm starting to see HIGHER prices paid at auction for tractors like IHC 1206's, JD 6030's. We're not used to thinking of these models as "antiques" or collector tractors, but markets change.....even the market for collector tractors. Definitely a trend I'll be keeping my eye on throughout 2010 and beyond. NEXT WEEK: "SOYBEAN DAY" IN EDMORE, ND Back from Michigan this weekend, then next week I'm heading north, all the way up to Edmore, North Dakota near the Canadian border. I've been invited to speak by the local radio station at Edmore's annual "Soybean Day". I'm looking forward to getting up there and talking used farm equipment with the good folks of northern North Dakota. If you're up that, stop by the show, I'll have copies of our new book, "Machinery Pete's 2010 Auction Price Guide" with me. WYOMING FARMER WITH A SICK WIFE - COULD USE OUR PRAYERS Wednesday (Feb. 24th) I drove up to Minneapolis to meet my father Jerry for a Minnesota Gophers basketball game. Dad's an old U of M grad and always been a big Gopher hoops fan. I met dad at a local Applebees before the game for dinner. I felt a tap on my shoulder......"Are you Pete?" A friendly woman named Debbie said her father watches the "Machinery Show" on RFD-TV every week. I had a very nice conversation with Debbie's dad. He was a farmer from the state of Wyoming. A big lover of Allis Chalmers tractors. He said he's been away from home for over a month, taking his wife who is ill to various hospitals. They were currently at the University of Minnesota Medical Center for treatment. Being away from home is tough. Watching your wife struggle mightily with medical issues is tougher. Say a prayer for our Wyoming farmer & his wife if you're so inclined. I hope a full recovery lies just ahead. 18-YEAR OLD MISSOURI MAN EMAILS PETE - ASKS FOR HELP I got a cool email the other day, from James, an 18-year old young man from Missouri. James is looking to buy his 1st tractor and wanted my advice on how to save a few $$'s. The following models are what James is looking for: JD 4050, 4055, 4250, 4255, 4450 or 4455 with MFWD and Power Shift. James is hoping to buy from a private seller and looking to spend under $35K. It was apparent from James' email that he is adamant about giving his equipment the upmost in care. He talked of waxing the family's JD 7810 twice a year. If you have a tractor for sale that fits the bill, or know of one available that could work for James, drop the young man an email at: jamesdelzelltucker@gmail.com
